Tyler Ramsey is the recipient of the Lake-Sumter Fire Chiefs’ Association Fire Fighter Scholarship award for 2011. Each year a scholarship is awarded to one of the students at Lake-Tech Fire Academy. Tyler has been an outstanding student and will graduate on Tuesday, 22 November 2011 and will take his state exam on 7 December 2011. He has also been a volunteer firefighter with Fruitland Park Fire Department since the age of 14.

Chief Williamson attended the monthly meeting of the Lake-Sumter Fire Chiefs Association that was held on September 21 at the Mission Inn, Howey-in-the-Hills.

Chief Williamson is the President of the Florida Fire Chiefs Association. He is also the Fire Chief of Winter Garden Fire Department.

The picture is taken with Chief Bishop of the Clermont Fire Department who is also the President of the Lake-Sumter Fire Chiefs Association.

Chief Mike Tucker receives Florida's “Fire Chief of the Year” recognition

Congratulations to The Villages Fire Chief Mike Tucker, who received the 2011 Florida Fire Chief of the Year award recognition at the recent Florida Fire Chief’s Conference in Marco Island.

This is the second time a Lake-Sumter Fire Chief’s Association member has won this award. Chief Bill Gulbrandsen won the award in 2007.

Darren Gray began working for Lake County in November 2010 as the Deputy County Manager, and became County Manager in January 2011. Prior to working for Lake County, Gray served as Assistant City Manager for the City of Clermont.
